About Brit
Brit Cochran is a freelance Makeup Artist & Hairstylist based in New York City.
Her art is influenced by the principles of composition and design– contrast, harmony, sophistication in color and concept, and relevance to the evolving modern world.
Brit’s passion for art and design has taken her from fashion design into the world of beauty, enticed by the colors and textures of makeup and the instant gratification of seeing her work come to life on the job. She first encountered makeup artistry while styling seasonal photo shoots for the fashion retailer where she was employed. During those photo shoots it occurred to her that makeup artistry was a natural fit for her creativity and the profession would ultimately be more artistically fulfilling than her work as a designer. Not long after, she fearlessly jumped into the freelance industry and has never looked back, enjoying every day since!
Her natural ability to adapt to any concept combined with her determination to never shy away from a challenge has allowed Brit to enjoy a diverse range of experiences in her career. It also makes her an artist who is able to consistently deliver a high quality product despite any challenges the assignment presents.
Brit completed a certificate degree in Fashion Makeup Artistry at the Make-up Designory school in Soho. Since then she has gained experience applying her work to fashion and commercial photography, live tv, commercials, film, music videos, runway, private events and weddings.
She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design and Product Development from the University of Cincinnati. Before her life of makeup and beauty she spent her time working as a fashion designer, graphic designer, creative director, visual merchandiser and trend researcher.
Brit is also a Dj and a polaroid enthusiast.
